Krishnendu Roy

Dr. Krishnendu Roy has been employed as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the CatMatX Lab, NanoSYD, Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) since May 2025.

Dr. Roy hails from Kolkata, which is often regarded as the science capital of India. He completed his doctoral degree in September 2024 at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata, India, where he also served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate until April 2025. During his PhD, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo, Japan.

His research interest focuses on water electrolysis under external stimuli, such as photoexcitation and magnetic fields.

He is among the researchers who have demonstrated that spin can play a crucial role in water electrolysis.

His expertise includes the synthesis of 2D and quasi-2D materials, such as transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), MXenes, and transition metal oxides (TMOs).

He is also interested in density functional theory (DFT) calculations.
